- Why should you have an asbestos survey?
Simply, because asbestos is a killer. More people die
from asbestos related disease per year than are killed
on the roads. Every week 20 tradesmen, 6 electricians
and 3 plumbers die from asbestos related disease. (source – HSE
website) The microscopic particles that make
up asbestos are small enough to get through the lungs’ natural
defence system, and if the particles become embedded
deep within the lungs, potentially fatal damage can be
done.
Asbestos is now banned from use in any construction materials,
but it was used in a wide range of products and could
be present in any building built or refurbished before
the year 2000.
As part of the HSE’s commitment to ensuring the
risk of exposure to asbestos is severely reduced, laws
and regulations have been passed placing onus on employers
to take responsibility for ensuring employees are at
the lowest possible risk. On top of this, landlords
have a responsibility for ensuring that their tenants
are safe from the potential damages of asbestos. If
you are an employer or a landlord, it is the law to take
asbestos into consideration.
- What is involved in an asbestos survey from HB Insulations

An asbestos survey will identify the presence of asbestos
containing materials (ACM). We can carry out surveys
at any premises, investigating the nature and condition
of flooring, pipe work, ceiling tiles, ceiling voids
and wall cavities and boarded materials. We aim
to highlight areas of concern and areas in which attention
is required urgently.

asbestos from our accredited asbestos experts, to asbestos type 3 surveys, which produce a detailed investigation
into the products and materials that make up the premises
and an exploration of the possible dangers lurking out
